State of the Phoenix

I'm doing ok at the moment.

Last week I was asked to work at the hospital for a week in the accounts department, covering for a staff member who was off work. That has helped a little with finances.

I decided to go see Wonder Woman on Sunday, since I had to be out of the flat for an open home. I still feel a little guilty about going to the movies since it costs so much more money but bugger it. I think I should be allowed to do something fun. I hadn't been to the movies for about 18 months. And yes I loved the movie.

I got asked today to do a temping job for six weeks. It's not a terribly exciting assignment by any means but it might give me a bit of breathing room financially. Half my issues with my depression is not having enough money to make ends meet let alone be able to do things I want to do, like I don't know, go to the movies once in a while or, I don't know buy a couch so people have a place to sit when they come to visit. I just have a recliner to watch tv.

Anyway, I've been working on a new book. I don't know if anyone remembers a fanfic I wrote called Convenience. It was a Chloe/Lex pairing. That story actually started life as a romance novel. The basic premise is Kate is jobless and in financial trouble. Nick, who makes good money, suggests they get married. The couple are friends but neither are aware of the other's real feelings. Yeah, total trope, but still a story I wanted to tell. I'm 20,000 words in and they've only just got engaged.

In other news, the parents are looking at buying another house. Mum is not happy where they are because she can't really go out much. In their old place she could go to the local mall and have a coffee or spend time just looking around the shops. While she's not far from the shops where they are, it's not the same. She doesn't have many friends here and her health is bad enough that she can't walk very far. I'm not exactly happy with this as last year she got so stressed she ended up having mild heart failure.

Also, there is going to be a writers' festival here in September. It was too late for me to have a stall but the organiser said I might still be able to get involved. So that's good news. I'm hoping to get a couple more books done by then so I'll have six published. And maybe the children's book will be done by then too. We'll see.

Well that's me. I just wanted to let you guys know I'm ok. I have a lot going on as you can tell and that helps a lot.

Thanks. I'm hoping that it will at least help things for a while.
