Was away last weekend

I had to go away last weekend up north to do a workshop for Zonta. I don't try to advertise the fact that I'm going away before the event, but I do post on Facebook after I've come back. So ...

Anyway, while I was there, I took a few photos. The thing I love about this country is that we have really gorgeous scenery that is so accessible, yet it's something we Kiwis take for granted, I think.

So I thought I'd share just a few of my favourite shots.

I lived in Whangarei 20 years ago but the funniest part of it is I never visited Whangarei Falls. Anyway, I took a few shots, including one from a bridge with a full-on shot of the falls, but this one I love the most.

South of Whangarei is a place called Brynderwyn. It's preceded by a winding road in the Brynderwyn Hills and in the middle of that part is a place you can stop. The spot overlooks the south east coast of Whangarei and in the middle of the harbour is the Hen and Chicken Islands. It's quite a lovely spot.

This is north of Auckland in a place called Dome Valley. There is a trail to the summit but it's quite a steep set of steps and it's about a thirty minute walk up. I only got about halfway, but I did manage to get a shot of some of the scenery peeking through the dense bush.

The trip home was not so great. I have been in a foul mood since Wednesday due to a lot of things. Here's hoping I have a better week next week.

Thanks Dee. One of the things I love about home is how picturesque it is.
