Novel progress report

The cover has been chosen and a preview is up on my website.

I'm still not finished writing. I have just started working a temp job, full-time hours which involves half an hour travel each way, so that's taking up a bit of my time.

So far this month I've managed to write over 10,000 words on it and have been trying to focus solely on the book. I now have almost 50,000 words so maybe about 20,000 to go. We'll see.

Anyway, my characters have been kind of resistant to my getting them together. My main character is dealing with a lot of grief and pain over everything, so I don't think she's ready to take that step yet. She has picked up a clue, however, to something her friend never told her, which will tell her why her friend did what she did.

So, here's the cover, created by the wonderful Carol (ctbn60). She gave me a few cover ideas, but this one is the one I liked the best.

I got some feedback on the first chapter by a work colleague, who was happy to look it over for me. This is a guy, and it's not his favourite genre, but he said he liked it. He did point out a couple of things I could try to fix, but other than that, he thought it was good. I'm so heartened by this. It's an intense story and a difficult one to write, but I'm happy with this feedback.

It's absolutely beautiful, very pensive and reflective. I like it a lot. Carol's amazing. :-)
