I did it! I have finished Kryptonian Consort.

Five years, over 380,000 words and 57 chapters on AO3. I'm beat! I made a marathon effort to finish the last chapters over about the last five weeks, focusing mainly on this story, and I've done a huge amount of writing in that time. At least about 40,000 probably closer to 50,000 words.

So, for those who haven't read it, it starts off in Season Four when Clark returns from the matrix - where he disappeared to at the end of Season Three. Clark meets Lois as Kal-El and instantly decides she's the one he's destined to be with. She falls for him and they begin an intense relationship.

I rewrite all the Season Four episodes, with a couple of interludes, as if Lois was always a part of them. The story is told only through Clark and Lois' points of view.

I do time jumps for season five and season six and change the timeline a little. I didn't feel it necessary to go over every episode after season four for one major reason and one big change. If you have read it, you'll know what that change is.

There's no Lana bashing - she becomes a good friend, which I have always thought she could be. There's Chlollie. Jonathan doesn't die. Lex is still evil. Lionel still dies, and Bruce shows up earlier than the Smallville comics.

While I don't have many readers on LJ I do want to say this. Thank you. I know it's always hard keeping up with the way I tend to write. I often jump from one story to the next, but I think I have a short attention span. But I do have a thing about finishing what I start and this is the oldest story I have on my list. There's another one that's getting up there and I do intend to finish that. So again I want to say thank you to those who are still following Consort and have, at times I'm sure, lost patience with me because it's been so long between updates.

A few people deserve special mention. Jan eternal_moonie, who has been so encouraging over the past five years, Carol ctbn60 who created the wonderful cover for this story, Jen jlvsclrk, oliver95 who I hope now looks forward to reading the story from start to finish and last but not least Mary Ellen gem65 who has listened to my ideas and hasn't rolled her eyes. Thank you.

You can now read the story in its entirety on AO3. The link is above.

I think I have a way over-active imagination, but it's all good.
