Having a bad day

Okay, I'm complaining, but still ...

So, I wake up with a migraine and that was bad enough to spoil the day.

I decided to go out to the mall to get my hair cut, as it needed it, and I wanted to shop for some clothes. Right in the middle of that, my mother calls and says she needs me to go to her place because she can't figure out how to buy tickets for a show that she and my stepdad are going to early next year. Like she says jump and I'm supposed to ask how high?

My phone is not working. Again. The other day, I had no dial tone and no service. So I got the phone company out and they supposedly fixed it. Well, then Mum tells me she tried to call and the phone cut out, so I had to call them out again! I can ring out and use the internet, but still, this is not good enough.

The other day, actually on my birthday, the lock on my front door broke. I can't even open the damn door to get out, so I have to use the back, which means walking through my neighbour's property to get to my car. It's inconvenient and I don't like doing it. That was five days ago and the lock is still not fixed. I'm pissed off about this. It's a holiday weekend coming up here (Queen's Birthday) and I still have to work, so I need access. With only one exterior door, which is off the kitchen that I can access, I think this would be a fire hazard. I am so not happy.

So yeah, I'm having the week from hell and I have to work tonight for four hours.

Do you guys think I'm being unreasonable to get annoyed about this? I even feel guilty for being annoyed at my mother for basically making me feel like I have to drop everything just to come to her rescue. And I'm not even going to go into the issues I had trying to book the goddamn tickets for her. I mean, if I wasn't living here, she would have had to work out how to do it herself.

*hugs* Complain away, sweetie. You're totally allowed and justified IMO. A migraine alone will do that. I hope it was a short one!

Yes, the expectation that you'll drop everything and come help is something you have a right to be annoyed about. It may not be anything you say anything about. I'm doing my best current not to be annoyed at my mom wanting me and my husband to drop everything, drive 10 hours and visit her while my brother and his family are there. I understand her reasoning and can even agree with it--I just don't particularly like the way the 'request' was delivered.

And double-yes on the phone and front door! Both of those should have been fixed right away. I hope they do get fixed quickly.

*more hugs*

Thankfully the meds kicked in on the migraine although I felt awfully tired all day. The door was fixed after I texted my landlord and asked for an update, but the next day. I did say to my landlord's mother that I had been worried because it was a fire hazard, and she agreed with me.

As for Mum, well, I was a bit short with her, but she could tell I was not having a good day. I did tell her I was not feeling well so I had that as an excuse.

Thanks for the hugs :)

You have a *perfect* right to feel the way you do.

Thanks Roxy. I really needed that.

Sometimes after a rough day or even a rough week is to complain and just get it out of your system. So go right ahead.

I hope things start to look up for you real soon.

Thank you. It's good to have a place to vent.

Not unreasonable at all dear
Hope your phone and door get fixed soon
Big hugs

The door's fixed but not the phone :( . I'll be very annoyed if they try to charge me for not being home and having to reschedule when they didn't even try calling me to say they would be around to fix it.

Thanks for the hugs.

Griping is good for the soul! :)

And you have every right to feel a bit put upon by your mom, but I'd counsel patience with her. I would give anything to have my parents back to annoy me. And I do think computers scare the older generation. :)

The thing is, I know she's having a hard time with her health, but this was not a dire emergency. If she'd said to me come around once you've done your shopping I would have been happier but no, it had to be done then. I don't know about you but I have to be in the right frame of mind to shop for clothes (since I hate the way I look anyway) and it kind of put me off.

Yeah, the computer scares the heck out of her, but at least she's trying I guess.

Not much on clothes shopping. I seem to have skipped that female gene. ;)

Trying is worth something! :)

I'm with you, actually. I hate shopping for clothes. I hate trying them on. I don't feel like I have the best taste or the best fashion sense, so I really have to be in the right mood to buy clothes.

It's okay honey it's a safe haven here rant away. it just sounds like it was too much happening all at once. Take a deep breath and relax. Be firm with the landlord to fix the door. tell them you are worried.

The door got fixed yesterday after I texted them to ask for an update. I mentioned something about my concerns about it being a fire hazard to only have one exit to the landlady's mother and she was in total agreement with me. It still shouldn't have taken six days, but whatever. It's fixed now. The phone ... they rescheduled. I get it and I'm not going to blow up the phone company for it, but they need to realise that I have my own things to do and I can't sit around waiting for them to turn up. Stupid bloody phone company.
