Happy New Year and Stats

It is around 7am on the 1st of January 2014 here in my neck of the woods. Dear lord, where has the time gone? This time last year I was still planning my trip to the States and working on my novel. It's still being beta'ed but hopefully not too much longer and I can publish it. All I'll say now is the cover has been chosen, with some helpful input from friends and even from my brother. All credit for the cover can go to Carol's Cover Designs. All I'll say is, if you're ever thinking of getting a cover for a book, give her site a look because she is really talented.

Anyway, stats time. December was a bad month for writing. I just couldn't seem to get all that motivated. The heat had a lot to do with it as well. Normally December weather can be still a little cold, but this December was actually fairly warm, although we did have some rainy days.

All up, I wrote 27,358 words, focusing mostly on the one story. That probably doesn't sound so bad to you, but considering in November I wrote that much in about 11 days, it's not much. I did take a few days off work for Christmas, but since I was actually really busy getting things ready for a family Christmas, and this year we had my brother and his family up for Christmas, I guess I can excuse myself, haha.

For the year, and keeping in mind that some of my January total included my novel writing, my grand total was (drum roll please): 581,337.

Monthly average: 48444.

Daily average: 1592

My total since I started writing fanfiction (and this does not include the novel) is 3,263,629. I started posting fanfiction on the 21st of February 2009 (the date I joined K-Site) and my daily average is 1,839.

My completed story total is just over 2,332,000 and my works in progress current total is around 931,000.

I finished a few stories through the year, but I still have one which will be four years old in February. Once I've finished the next story I'm working on, I will try and focus on that one so I can get it finished.

I don't know why my stories have turned into epics but I currently have one story which is up to 277,000 words. Don't get me wrong. I love writing and I have managed to write some shorter, novel-length stories. Heck, my novel is over 124,000 words, which is more than twice the average Harlequin novel, but yeah, this particular story turned out way longer than I expected, but I'm hoping I can finish this off in a few more chapters. I'll try not to let it get to 300,000 words.

I won't bore you with a break-down of the pairings, but most of these stories are from the Smallville fandom. Maybe the fandom is dying, but as long as I'm still getting ideas (and believe me I have a few more plot bunnies that want shooting), I'll keep writing SV stories.

Anyway, I'll be posting the next chapter of One Life to Live a little later today. That story is now complete so only a few more chapters to post.
