Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Okay, okay, it's bloody cold here in Auckland but I'm still getting a kick out of this. It snowed here today. So it wasn't much. Very light snow and probably more hail and rain than snow, but it still snowed. And in downtown Auckland. According to the reports, it hasn't snowed in this city since 1939.

I expect the novelty will very quickly wear off. A lot of Wellingtonians are having a hard time of it. Some places have no power.

Wish I could have got a photo though.

As long as you got a kick out of that honey, it is A-okay with me. *hugs*

Wow, I didn't know it was possible to get snow in Australia. I learned something new, today. I'm glad you're enjoying the snow. It can be fun in moderation.

Uh, hate to tell you this, hon, but I'm in New Zealand, not Aussie. And it very definitely snows here in NZ in winter, just mostly in the South Island.

And you are right. Snow is fun in moderation.

Oops. Also duh. Considering it's part of your name, I have no excuse. Obviously my brain wasn't turned on. Sorry for the comment fail.

How much snow did you get? I'm around Philadelphia, last winter we got two feet of snow in at least three independent snow storms. Power still didn't go out.

Wellington got it much worse than we did here in Auckland. And of course, Christchurch and much of the lower South Island got a pretty good dusting. Of course, Christchurch's infrastructure is still pretty unstable because of the months of aftershocks so that hasn't helped with the power there.
I'm glad I don't live in the South Island :)
We had a few gale force winds as well which didn't help matters - that probably caused the outages more than the snow.

It's lovely to read your antipodean comments as we are in a heat-wave (!! about 20-22C) at the moment. It would be nice to have a real summer to balance your real winter.

This winter has been somewhat of a surprise. It was pretty mild in June so the last week has been a bit of a shock. One of my colleagues had never even seen snow so it was quite an experience for her.

Hmm, I would guess your summers tend to be about as unsettled as ours can be at times.
