Writer's Block: I'm off to see the wizard

Are there any movies that you absolutely loved when you were younger that you've watched again and found awful or ridiculous?

Umm, I am probably committing a cardinal sin here, but while I loved Star Wars, and still do in a lot of ways, I find the dialogue to be really cheesy now. Don't get me wrong, I love George Lucas - he's one of the few directors/film-makers I would give my eye teeth to meet, and I would often go to see their movies just because it's them. But oh dear, the dialogue in Star Wars (okay, Episode Four if you want to be technical about it) really was awful at times. But it's still fun for pure escapism.

On a related note, how about tv? I used to love Knight Rider when I was a kid. The one with David Hasselhoff. But OMG it is so unbelievably corny now. For instance, whenever he activates the turbo boost, as soon as KITT has made the jump he always goes: "Woo. Yeah!" and has this stupid grin on his face. Sorry Dave, but what did it for me as a twelve year old just doesn't cut the mustard for me as an adult.

I'm actually embarrassed by the one I can think of. It was called "Love at First Bite" (I think) and stared George Hamilton. It was a vampire movie that I remember loving as a young girl (10-12 maybe).

I was so excited to see it on VHS in a bargain bin in Walmart one day. I snatched it up and rewatched it that night. Yikes! It was horrible. Even worse it was racist. One scene had the vampire as a bat flying into an apartment in New York City. The black family started chasing it around the room with a frying pan and yelling, "Here, black chicken. Here, black chicken." OMG, so awful.

I remember that movie. Well, bits of it anyway. It was all right, but not something I'd want to watch again.
